Short Nighttime Sleep Raises Risk of Clogged Leg Arteries

According to a study, sleeping less than five hours per night increases the risk of peripheral artery diseases by 74% compared to sleeping seven to eight hours. According to the study, sleeping 7 to 8 hours per night can reduce peripheral artery diseases risk.

Peripheral artery disease affects over 200 million people worldwide. It is a condition where leg arteries become clogged, blood flow is reduced and heart attacks and strokes are increased.

A previous study linked insufficient sleep during the night and naps during the day to an increased risk of coronary artery diseases. This is due to clogged arteries.

Individuals with peripheral artery diseases also complain about sleep problems. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sleep and peripheral artery diseases.

The study involved over 650,000 people and was conducted in two parts. Researchers analyzed sleep duration, napping during the daytime and peripheral artery risk.
